The Old Waxahachie City Jail was demolished this week to make room for the new county parking garage. Built in 1928, the jail was a familiar site for many years to all who lived in and around Waxahachie.
in 2001 it was also slated for demolition but local historical organizations worked together to save the building.
Being present and personally witnessing most of the demolition it was a sad sight to see the building come down. She had survived over seventy years only to fall victim to progress. In some ways it seems like the passing of an era.
