12 Angry Men is a Must See PDF Print E-mail

 By Kathryn E. Eriksen

The dramatic play called 12 Angry Men opens Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Ennis Public Theatre, and runs until each Friday and Saturday night, until June 28, 2008.  There is also a Sunday Matinee on June 29, 2008.  The legal drama still holds as much interest for audiences today as when it was first performed in 1957.  The stellar cast assembled by Director Bill Rhoten brings the screenplay written by Reginald Rose to life in the intimate theatre setting.

The entire play takes place on one set, which serves to stabilize the tumultuous emotions felt by the jurors during deliberations.  At times, the atmosphere in the theatre turns dark with anger, regret and despair.  Dramatic conflicts between the jurors’ own personal demons and the decision they must make to decide the guilt or innocence of the defendant drive the play towards its ultimate, surprising conclusion.12 men dave

As an exclusive for Waxahachie Journal readers, attached are several photos taken during rehearsal (I have an inside connection – my husband, David, plays Juror #4).  After the play, please tell Dave that you saw him first in Waxahachie Journal!

Call 972-878-PLAY (7529) for reservations.  Tickets are $14.00 for adults and $12.00 for students and seniors.  For directions to the theatre, please visit www.EnnisPublicTheatre.com.
