Guiding the children of Ellis County to develop a deeper appreciation for the fine arts and achieve greater confidence in themselves. . . Your Child can be a Star!
The newly formed Ellis County Children’s Theater invites your children in grades 1st – 12th (2008 - 09) to audition for our first musical production, “Snow White”. We have invited the Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT) from Missoula, Montana to host this event. Approximately 50 to 60 local children will be cast in age appropriate roles. In a group format, auditions will be held at 1:00 on Monday, June 23 in the Fine Arts Center at Waxahachie High School. Students are encouraged to arrive no later than 12:45 for the auditions and remain until selections have been made. Rehearsals will be Monday following casting and Tuesday, June 24 through Friday, June 27 from 1:00 to 5:30 at the high school. Performances will be at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28. Those chosen to be included in the cast will be charged a $50.00 camp fee payable on June 23 after selections have been made. There is no guarantee everyone who auditions will be included in the cast. Because we are casting in a group format, no preparation is necessary! Cast members must be available for all scheduled rehearsals and performances. The Missoula Children’s Theater is a non-profit organization which tours throughout the United States casting over 65,000 children who delight and entertain their families, friends and community. Their residency in Waxahachie is funded by Ellis County Children’s Theater (ECCT). Ellis County Children’s Theater is dedicated to bringing performing arts education to young people throughout Ellis County. We are currently seeking any corporate or private sponsors wishing to assist us in becoming a non-profit children’s theater. Our plans for summer 2009 include several two-week workshops for children in grades 1 – 8. The workshops will include participation in script writing, costumes creation, application of stage make-up, developing singing skills and exploring choreography. We are excited about the opportunity to reach, inspire and motivate young people through performing arts.
