 Iris fans in Waxahachie were treated to a lavish display of gorgeous iris blooms at the home of David and Pat Smith on Saturday, April 20th . Not knowing what to do with an area of his yard, he decided four years ago to start an Iris garden. He has always liked Irises and knew they were low maintenance, so he decided to plant the entire area with a wide variety of the rhizomes. Now his iris garden has matured and is now one of the most beautiful collections of irises to be found anywhere in Waxahachie. David told visitors he has been talking to a city official about possibly starting a "Plant an Iris Program" as part of the Waxahachie beautification programs and enlisting the City of Waxahachie to encourage Waxahachie citizens to plant this beautiful and easy-to-care-for plant.
