 1st Annual Cars in the Park at Getzendaner Park The First Annual Cars in the Park was held on Saturday, June 28,2008, in Getzendaner Park. The Midlothian Classic Wheels Club says based on the size of the turnout, this will be an annual event . Jointly sponsored by the Waxahachie Daily Light and many other organizations and businesses, many prizes and awards were given to the numerous entrants. Photos | Video
Several hundred people wandered among the dozens of assorted vehicles and were able to talk with the owners about the many varied customizations and restorations of the vehicles. Often the phrase “I had a car like this when I was younger” was heard as visitors viewed cars from the 1920’s up through the 1970’s. There was also a nice assortment of newer model sports cars. The weather was warm but the shade of Getzendaner Park made the heat more bearable. The Waxahachie Lions Club offered snacks and cold refreshments. Hopefully, Getzendaner Park will continue to be the venue for this show.
