Saturday morning dawned bright and early for dog lovers in Waxahachie. The 6th Annual Bow-Wow Halloween Hustle started at 8:00 a.m. in Getzandaner Park – about
50 people showed up with their dogs. As the sun was peeping through the century-old oak trees, dogs of all shapes and sizes paraded in their Halloween costumes. Bumblebees, Super Heroes and even a skunk made an appearance! The event started with a fun walk/run, then concluded with several contests for the dogs and their owners. The Owner-Pet Contest was first. People went up to the Judging table (that included District Clerk, Melanie Reed, Mayor Joe Jenkins, Bob Carroll and many other dignitaries). The Judges had such a difficult time deciding on the winner, that three contestants were called back! Carol Wood and her bumblebee costume won the day, but our very own Lauren Eriksen came in second! There was also a contest for the Best Pet Trick and the Fastest Tail. It was a great event and the funds raised go to support the Ellis County SPCA.
