Now in the 14th year of the Hot “Hare” tour, the Energizer Bunny Balloon continues to make surprise appearances around the country as the pink pitchman for Energizer® Max® brand batteries. Energizer Bunny® Career History—The Facts Behind the Fur The Energizer Bunny® is the champion for those who keep going. Over his 16 years as an advertising icon, he has become the ultimate symbol of endurance—the keep going spirit. In total, the Energizer Bunny has appeared in more than 107 television commercials as the pink pitchman for Energizer Max brand batteries. He's become a national symbol for long-lasting performance and perseverance, earning a place in pop culture. His name has been used to describe diverse and enduring personalities, from the religious figures to presidents. He's been ribbed by late night talk show hosts and appeared on awards shows and nationally televised sports shows. And through it all, he keeps going. The Energizer Bunny first appeared in a 1989 parody of a television ad but kept "going and going" right off the commercial set. Shortly afterwards, he was seen interrupting more than 40 consumer product advertising parodies from nasal decongestant to instant coffee. Who could have predicted 15 years ago that a pink, flip-flop-wearing, sunglassed bunny thumping a big bass drum would become one of America's most-beloved brand symbols and most-recognized advertising icons? Here’s a quick look at some of his career highlights: 1989—Energizer Bunny makes his television debut and becomes an overnight sensation as he interrupts commercials and Keeps Going and Going and Going. 1993—The chase begins as actor/comedian Rip Torn, chairman of Supervolt company, plots diabolic schemes to the stop the Energizer Bunny. Our hero is pursued by King Kong, the Wicked Witch of the West and a vampire. In the end, these harebrained ideas to snare the Energizer Bunny fail and he keeps going to his next adventure. 1994—Wile E. Coyote, the Road Runner and Boris and Natasha try but fail to stop the Energizer Bunny even in cartoon land where almost anything is possible. 1995—Yes, even Darth Vader and his evil empire were no contest for our hero. And by the end of that year, a great adventurer asked his Genie for one wish—long life—when poof the non-stop Energizer Bunny appears. 1996—Spotters go in search of the Energizer Bunny, but barely catch a glimpse as the Energizer Bunny keeps going—seeing nothing more than a pink blur and a drumbeat. 2002—The Energizer Bunny takes his unstoppable power inside—asking simply, “Do you have the Bunny inside?™” 2004—With his trademark wink and smile, the Energizer Bunny returns in full force, encouraging us all to keep going. 2005—The Energizer Bunny and the brand he represents continue to stand for longevity, endurance and the absolute refusal to quit. He is the champion of all people who keep going. And Mr. Energizer Bunny, thanks to you, we will!
