Home Entertainment The Heat is on

The Heat is on – Time to go to a Water Park - When the thermometer hits 100 degrees, you know it is summer in Texas!  With the kids out of school, it’s time to spend the day at a water park.

There are a lot of choices in our area – Hawaiian Falls in Mansfield (www.hfalls.com) or Hurrican Harbor in Arlington (www.sixflags.com/hurricaneHarborTexas).   But our hands down favorite is a little farther, but definitely worth the drive.

NRH2o in North Richland Hills (www.nrh2o.com)!

This water park is different – there are lots of things for the 5 and under set to do, but the rides and level of difficulty keep the tweens and young teenagers happy too.  Plenty of shaded areas to set up, free parking and tubes, coolers allowed and family friendly make NRH2o our absolute favorite choice for summer water parks.

Be sure to check online for their daily specials.  When you purchase your tickets online, you get $5.00 off the regular price of $23.99.  But sometimes, you can’t use the online coupons because you did not pay full price for the ticket.   The all day drink ticket is definitely worth it – we probably refilled our drinks at least 3x while we were there!

It is best to start early – the park opens at 10:00 a.m. and is never crowded at that time of day.  You can pick the best spot to camp out, set up and hit the big rides early, before the lines get too long.  But beware --- when we went to the Lazy River, an uninvited guest was disturbed and had to be caught – a 4 foot long water snake!  The park personnel were very professional, shut down the ride quickly and captured the snake.  As the summer wears on, that should not continue to be a problem…

It is an easy drive to reach NRH2o – Take Hwy 287 to Loop 820; continue North on Loop 820 until you reach Hwy 121.  Be on the lookout for the exit to SH-26, which is before Loop 820 turns west.  Take that exit and continue North – NRH2o will be on your left hand side, about 2 miles up.

NRH2o – the best water park in North Texas!
